Flickr Commons. While Flickr is one of the better known photo hosting sites online, the Commons project is not as well known. It is a collection of public domain photos from institutions around the world and flickr users are encouraged to aid in tagging images.

stock.xchang is the world's largest online collection of public domain/freely available images. If you need images to illustrate a project, go here. You'll also find photography information and Photoshop tutorials here.

Google Image Search will likely find any image you might need, but unlike the first two sites, not everything here can be freely used without permission. Keep that in mind when working on your projects and try the first two links before this one.
